Indian star cricketer Hardik Pandya became the new No.1 ranked all-rounder in the latest ICC men's T20I Rankings updated after the T20 World Cup final. Hardik was sensational with the ball in the final, picking up the big wickets of David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen.

The all-rounder closed out the game with the wicket of Kagiso Rabada and ensured that his figures of 3/20 helped the Men in Blue win their second T20 World Cup title after 17 long years.

Hardik Pandya had a torrid time during the IPL 2024 season but turned up big time for Team India. He scored 144 runs as a finisher at a strike rate of more than 150 and also picked up 11 wickets, highlighting once again how crucial he was to the balance of the team.

Hardik Pandya had opened up on his tough time

After the T20 World Cup final, Hardik Pandya was in tears and opened up about his struggles in the six months leading up to the showpiece event. Hardik indirectly referred to the boos he received while captaining the Mumbai Indians and felt it was poetic justice to deliver the winning moment for India.

Here's what he told Star Sports:

"Those six months, I wanted those six months of mine. I couldn't even figure out what happened to me. I controlled a lot. I wanted to cry, but I didn't. People who were happy with my misery, I didn't want to give them the satisfaction. And I will never. Now look at the fate. I got a chance to do this in the final over. I couldn't ever have imagined this. I am speechless."
