India vs South Africa, 2024 T20 World Cup Final: Toss result and playing 11s for today’s match, umpires list and pitch report

India will take on South Africa in the ICC Men's 2024 T20 World Cup final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Both the Men in Blue and the Proteas are unbeaten in the tournament. India haven't won the T20 World Cup since the inaugural edition in 2007, while South Africa are appearing in their first-ever men's World Cup final in any format.

Team India secured a berth in the final by getting the better of 2022 champions England by 68 runs in the second semifinal in Guyana. Sent into bat, India put up 171-7 on the board as Rohit Sharma top-scored with 57 off 39, while Suryakumar Yadav contributed 47 off 36. Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav then claimed three scalps each as England were bowled out for 103.

South Africa had it rather easy in their semifinal against Afghanistan in Trinidad. Bowling first, the Proteas bundled out the Asian side for 56 in 11.5 overs as Marco Jansen and Tabraiz Shamsi claimed three wickets each. In the chase, South Africa romped home in 8.5 overs, with nine wickets in hand.

In his pitch report, Ian Bishop says that a fair bit of rolling has been done on the surface. There is no live grass to hold it together, he points out. The former West Indies pacer reckons that it will be fairly hard to start with, so the ball could come on to the bat nicely.
