Indian seamer nominated for ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year 2024

Team India seamer Arshdeep Singh is among the nominees for the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of The Year as the apex body of cricket announced it on Sunday, December 29. The left-arm seamer remains the only Indian in the list, with Jasprit Bumrah surprisingly missing out on the nominations.

Bumrah, the Indian pace spearhead, played a pivotal role in the Men in Blue's T20 World Cup victory in June and earned the Player of the Tournament award. The 31-year-old finished with 15 wickets in eight matches, averaging an outstanding 8.26 alongside a haul of 4-0-18-2 in the final against South Africa in Barbados.

The other nominees are Travis Head, Sikandar Raza and Babar Azam. Australia's Head finished the T20 World Cup this year as their highest run-getter with 255 runs and ended the year with 539 runs in 15 matches, averaging 38.50 alongside a strike rate of 178.47.

Zimbabwe's T20I skipper Raza has 573 runs in 24 games in 2024 alongside taking 24 scalps. Babar's numbers, meanwhile, have been underwhelming, scoring 738 runs in 24 T20Is in 2024 at 33.54 alongside a strike rate of 133.21.

Arshdeep, meanwhile, could finish as the leading wicket-taker in T20Is among the full-member nations with 36 scalps in 18 matches. However, Sri Lankan spinner Wanindu Hasaranga could take over the left-arm seamer in the second T20I against New Zealand, set to take place on Monday as the leggie is also on 36.

Arshdeep had as much a vital role to play as Bumrah in the Men in Blue's T20 World Cup win as the 25-year-old picked up 17 wickets in eight innings at 12.64 apiece. He also starred in the recent 3-1 series win in South Africa, snaring eight scalps in four matches at 15.37
