BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is reportedly trying to arrange a charter to fly the Indian team out of Barbados. Hurricane Beryl will likely hit the Caribbean island soon, and the local government has labeled it in the 'very dangerous' category. India played the T20 World Cup final in Bridgetown on Saturday.

Since there was a reserve day for the T20 World Cup 2024 final, the initial plan for both finalists was to fly out of the Caribbean on Monday. However, the plans may change because the airport will likely be shut down at 8pm local time on Sunday night and the flights will be canceled.

As per a report by Cricbuzz, BCCI is considering to hire a charter for the Indian entourage of around 70 people, comprising cricketers, their families, support staff and other officials. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is overseeing all the arrangements.

Reportedly, there aren't any aircrafts available in the Caribbean which can accommodate 70 people, which is why the board is looking to arrange one from the USA. The original plan for Team India was to travel to New York and then take flights back home. However, the return journey might have a different route now.

"We are stuck here too"- Journalist Vikrant Gupta provides an update from Barbados

Earlier today, journalist Vikrant Gupta shared an update from the island, where the Indian media is also stuck due to the hurricane.

"Hurricane Beryl will hit Barbados either tonight or early morning Monday. The landfall is going to be severe. Barbados airport will shut down and flights are being cancelled. Even the Indian team will be stuck here till the Hurricane subsides and airport resumes. We are stuck here too. All outbound flights are being cancelled," Gupta's tweet read.

As per Cricbuzz, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited the Indian squad to New Delhi. It will be interesting to see when the Indian team reaches home.
