Indian star Virat Kohli rediscovered his best form in the 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa in Barbados on Saturday, June 29. Winning the toss and electing to bat, India were in early trouble at 34/3 in the fifth over with the loss of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Suryakumar Yadav.

However, Kohli showcased tremendous restrain after a fast start to reach his half-century off 48 deliveries. He then opened his shoulders in the final overs to finish with a blazing 76 off 59 balls, including six boundaries and two maximums.

The 35-year-old struggled massively in the tournament coming into the final, scoring only 75 runs at an average of under 11 in seven outings. Yet, he bailed the side out of trouble when needed most to record his 15th T20 World Cup half-century.

It is worth remembering Virat Kohli also scored a similar 58-ball 77 in India's previous T20 World Cup final in 2014 against Sri Lanka.

Fans on Twitter hailed the champion batter for stepping up in the big match with the following reactions:

Fans continued praising King Kohli with one saying:

"Where are those who say Babar is better than virat kohli ??"
"Well played, King Kohli You stood up when we needed you the most," a fan said.
"King Kohli does his redemption directly in the final," tweeted a fan.

Virat Kohli's heroics propel India to a formidable 176 in 20 overs

After a slow start in the powerplay, Team India posted an excellent total of 176/7 in their 20 overs. Kohli received stellar support from Axar Patel, who scored a crucial 47 off 31 balls from 34/3.

Big-hitter Shivam Dube also struck some lusty blows at the end to finish with a 16-ball 27 and help India past the 175-run mark. The 176 is the highest team total in a T20 World Cup final, putting India in a commanding position to clinch their second T20 World Cup title.

Keshav Maharaj and Anrich Nortje picked up two wickets for South Africa, while Kagiso Rabada and Marco Janse chipped in with a wicket each.

Should Rohit Sharma's Men come out on top, it will be their first T20 World Cup title after the triumph in the inaugural edition in 2007. As for South Africa, the India clash will be their first-ever World Cup final in any format.

Both teams are unbeaten thus far in the tournament and the winner will become the first side to win the title without a defeat.
