Trident Stallions emerged victorious in the 27th match of the 2024 Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup after comfortably defeating Intersoft Titans by eight wickets in hand.

The second game of the day saw the JK Super Strikers cruise to an easy seven-wicket win against the BLV Blasters at the IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.

The 2024 Sher-e-Punjab T20 Cup sees the Blasters atop the points table despite their loss against the Strikers. With 12 points and an NRR of +1.172, the BLV Blasters are the table-toppers after nine games.

The Stallions occupy the second spot in the points table, winning six out of their nine games and accumulating 12 points in the tournament. A relatively inferior net run rate of +0.671 compared to the Blasters' +1.172 is the reason why the Stallions are just below the table toppers.

Super Strikers, after their victory against the table-toppers, catapulted to the third spot with 12 points in nine games and a healthy net run rate of +0.463.

Agri Kings Knights and Royal Phantoms have eight and six points, respectively, in the nine games played so far. With four victories in the tournament, the Knights are in the fourth spot, while the Phantoms occupy the fifth position.

Languishing at the bottom of the points table are the Intersoft Titans, with just two wins out of nine games and an abysmal NR of -1.245.

Super Strikers crush Blasters in a one-sided affair; Stallions cruise to an eight-wicket victory over Titans

The Intersoft Titans were put to the test first after losing the toss in the first game of the day against the Trident Stallions. Pukhraj Mann gave the Titans a blistering score of 20 runs in six deliveries. However, his stay was short-lived, as Mann succumbed to Gurwinder Bhullar’s bowling. Pukhraj’s opening partner, skipper Vishwanath Pratap Singh, never got going as he could only manage to score nine off 16 balls.

The Titans batting lineup never found a player that could parry the innings along. Jashanpreet Singh-Sidhu (25 off 20), Emanjot Singh Chahal (22 off 15), and Abhinav Sharma (20 off 19) got decent starts but failed to capitalize. Towards the tail-end of the innings, Siddarth Kaul's 11-ball cameo ensured his team a somewhat respectable score of 145/9 in 20 overs.

Gurnoor Brar (3/32) was the highest wicket-taker for the Stallions, while his teammates Gurwinder Bhullar and Aryaman Singh finished their spells with two wickets each. Chasing a sub-par total of 146 runs, the Stallions seemed in control throughout the innings, courtesy of opener Abhay Choudhary’s scintillating 102 off just 52 deliveries.

Abhay Choudhary’s blistering century meant that the Stallions won the game by eight wickets and 28 deliveries to spare. Emanjot Singh Chahal and Yuvraj Yogender Singh took one wicket apiece for the Intersoft Titans.

Shifting our focus to the second game of the day between the JK Super Strikers and BLV Blasters, the Blasters won the toss and elected to bat first, which in retrospect turned out to be an abysmal decision as they were bundled out for a mere 103 by the JK Super Strikers.

Opener Harnoor Singh top-scored for the Blasters, scoring 21 off 18. Sahil Khan and Mayank Markande ran riot through the Blasters batting lineup with figures of 3/26 and 3/12, respectively In reply, the Strikers got off to a horrible start, losing their top three in quick succession.

Just when the Blasters seemed to be in control of the game, skipper Sanvir Singh’s quickfire half-century coupled with Aryan Yadav’s 31-ball 41 saw the Strikers through as they won the contest by seven wickets and a colossal margin of 61 deliveries.
