The 2024 T20 World Cup concluded on Saturday (June 29) after amusing the cricket fans for almost a month. Team India dominated through the tournament and deservingly emerged victorious by beating South Africa in the final by seven runs. As a result, they became two-time T20I World champions, with their previous win coming way back in 2007 under the leadership of MS Dhoni.

The bowlers dominated the tournament as the batters found life difficult on slow and lively pitches in the West Indies and the USA. It was a contrasting experience for the Indian fans to witness many low-scoring matches after witnessing mammoth totals consistently during the IPL in April and May.

At the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma opened up about the hard work done by the Indian team for the last three to four years. He credited their success to it, saying:

“Very hard to sum up what we have been through for the last 3-4 years. We work very hard as a team, lot has gone on behind the scenes. It is not today, it is what we have been doing for the last 3-4 years. We have played lots of high-pressure games and come on the wrong side too. Overall, as a team, as a group on the field, we wanted this really bad. The guys do understand what needs to be done when the pressure is on."

He continued:

"And today is the perfect example of what to do when you have your backs to the wall. We stuck together as a team.
