The 2024 T20 World Cup champions Team India met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence after arriving in New Delhi from Barbados in the morning on Thursday, July 4. PM Modi’s residence hosted the Men in Blue for breakfast at around 11 AM IST.

The Indian players were wearing a special jersey during the meet. India head coach Rahul Dravid, BCCI President Roger Binny, and BCCI Secretary Jay Shah accompanied the players during the special meet.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, the players were seen posing with PM Modi with the T20 World Cup trophy. The PM also got candid with the players during the special meet.

Notably, PM Modi congratulated Rohit Sharma and Co. for their T20 World Cup glory after they beat South Africa by seven runs in the tournament final to lift the silverware after 17 years. The 73-year-old previously consoled the Indian players when they lost the 2023 ODI World Cup final in a stadium named after him in Ahmedabad last year.


Team India to have 2024 T20 World Cup victory parade in Mumbai later today

Team India left for Mumbai following their meeting with PM Modi. The Indian players will have a victory parade from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium from 4 PM IST. The fans will be allowed free of cost on a first-come-first-serve basis. Entry gates 2, 3, and 4 will be opened for the fans to celebrate the victory with the Men in Blue.

During the event, Jay Shah is expected to hand over the INR 125 crore cheque to the winning team, which he announced a few days back.

On preparations regarding India’s open bus celebration in Mumbai, Maharashtra Cricket Association’s Secretary Ajinkya Naik said that police have been deployed in large numbers for the smooth conduct of the event (via ANI):

“MCA has made preparations for the public. Under the guidance of Mumbai Police and BCCI, we are going to give free entry to the public on first come first preference...We had a meeting with Mumbai Police yesterday. MCA has kept the maximum police force. It is a proud moment for MCA and the country and we are very excited to welcome the Indian team today..."

This is only the second time after the 2007 T20 World Cup that open bus celebrations will take place in Mumbai.
