England batter Liam Livingstone had to depart after a run out following a major mix-up with Jofra Archer in their encounter against India. It arguably sums up the team's display in the 2024 T20 World Cup semi-final. Livingstone was England's last recognized batter during the run chase at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27.

England were handed a daunting target of 172 on a challenging surface, and by the time Livingstone came into the crease, the clash was more or less done. Tottering at 49-5 in the eighth over, the explosive batter didn't have credible batters at the other end to build a partnership or create some momentum.

He was also struggling on the tacky surface against the spinners and got to 11 runs off 16 deliveries while batting alongside the tail. During Axar Patel's final over towards the end of the innings, Archer's miscued shot rolled towards fine leg. Livingstone wanted a quick single to get back on the strike, but Archer was ball-watching and didn't respond to the call.

Furthermore, Archer also didn't make any attempt to leave his crease and cross Livingstone to sacrifice his wicket. Instead, Livingstone had to turn around and attempt to make it all the way to the non-striker's end. By this time, Kuldeep Yadav threw the ball to Axar Patel, who whipped the bails off.

It did not take long for Team India to wrap up the affairs after Liam Livingstone's dismissal. Archer chipped in with some lusty blows towards the end. However, the inevitable finally occurred as Bumrah trapped the all-rounder LBW with a yorker to secure a massive 68-run win.

"India certainly outplayed us, may be let them get 20-25 runs too many, it was a challenging surface, they played well and they outplayed us, full deserved the win. Two years on, different conditions, credit to India, they played a very good cricket and deserved the win as I said," England skipper Jos Buttler said during the post-match presentation.

Team India will now play the finals of the 2024 T20 World Cup against South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.
