It is worth mentioning that there is no reserve day for the second semifinal of the 2024 T20 World Cup. If a result isn't possible due to rain, India will advance to the final, given that they were the table-toppers of Group 1, while England finished in the second spot in Group 2.

The winner of the second semifinal will compete against South Africa in the summit clash. South Africa secured a nine-wicket win over Afghanistan in the first semifinal of the showpiece event.

India were 65/2 after 8 overs when rain stopped play in the second semifinal of the 2024 T20 World Cup

After being asked to bat first, India got off to a shaky start, with senior batter Virat Kohli departing early. He scored nine runs off as many balls before perishing to Reece Topley in the third over.

Kohli was out bowled while trying to play a length delivery towards the mid-wicket region. He was beaten by the inward movement and the ball ended up crashing onto the leg stump.

To make matters worse for India, Rishabh Pant also departed without making a significant impact. The southpaw scored just four runs off six deliveries and was dismissed in the sixth over.

Pant was caught by Jonny Bairstow at mid-wicket off Sam Curran's bowling. Skipper Rohit Sharma accumulated some crucial runs for his team from the other end.

At the time of writing, India are 65/2 in eight overs. Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav are unbeaten at 37 (26) and 13 (7), respectively.
