After becoming the first Indian to score back-to-back hundreds in Women's ODIs against South Africa on Wednesday, Smriti Mandhana made her magical day even better by dismissing Sune Luus to pick her first ODI wicket in her 83rd match.

Mandhana came to bowl in the 15th over, with Harmanpreet Kaur probably testing her on a spin-friendly track. On the second ball, she bowled it wide outside off with a Virat Kohli-like wrong-footed action. Luus went fishing for it, only to get a thin top edge due to extra bounce, which was easily grabbed by wicketkeeper Richa Ghosh.

As the Chinnaswamy roared at the moment, the similarities with Kohli came rushing through.

The action, their kit number 18, Bengaluru's love for them as well as the fact that Kohli took his last international wicket on a wide ball (though that one was down the leg) at the same venue against the Netherlands (Scott Edwards) at the 2023 World Cup.

Smriti Mandhana broke multiple records in the first innings

Perhaps Harmanpreet Kaur also thought that it was just Mandhana's day. In the first innings, she took 17 balls to get her first run as the South African pacers extracted substantial seam movement in the powerplay. But once set, she got a flurry of boundaries away, scoring 136 (120) to help India reach 325/3 in the first innings.

Not only did she become the first Indian to hit consecutive WODI hundreds but also equaled Mithali Raj's record of seven WODI tons for India. Moreover, this was also the left-hander's highest score in the format.

"The wicket wasn't playing the way it was in the first match so had to change a few things. I am not used to being 0 (18) but we had to play according to the situation as the pitch had a bit of grass on it," Mandhana said after the innings.
