Team India batter Suryakumar Yadav departed after scoring just three runs in the all-important 2024 T20 World Cup final against South Africa. He tried to take on Kagiso Rabada but holed out to fine leg at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 29.

Suryakumar walked in after Team India lost two quick wickets in the second over of the innings. The right-handed batter received an early scare after almost being caught at mid-on off Rabada's bowling, but just about managed to clear the fielder.

However, Rabada did not spare Suryakumar Yadav in his second over. The right-arm pacer bowled a length delivery on the off-stump line, which the batter looked to dispatch to the vacant square leg area by shuffling along the crease.

Heinrich Klaasen sprinted from fine leg and took a well-judged catch to seal the vital breakthrough for the Proteas.

Kagiso Rabada finished the over well to cap off a brilliant spell with the new ball. He conceded only 10 runs off two overs and picked up the key wicket of Suryakumar Yadav.

The right-handed batter was in good touch in the tournament, playing crucial knocks in the matches against the USA and the semi-final against England.

Team India promote Axar Patel up the order following Suryakumar Yadav's dismissal

After losing three wickets in the powerplay, and the score reading 35/3 in the fifth over, the Men in Blue promoted Axar Patel up to No.5, much like during the group stage clash against Pakistan.

Earlier in the powerplay, Keshav Maharaj had struck twice to dismiss both Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant. Both batters perished while trying to play the sweep shot, and dampened India's positive start.

As of writing, Team India are repairing the innings with Virat Kohli and Axar Patel out in the middle. The score is 59/3 after eight overs, with the likes of Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya still to come.
