Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan avoided an eye injury as the ball got stuck in his helmet grill during their 2024 T20 World Cup match against the Netherlands in Kingstown on Thursday (June 13). Had the ball gone through the gap, it could’ve resulted in an injury to his left eye.

The incident took place in the third over of Bangladesh’s innings. Vivian Kingma banged in a short delivery with extra bounce on offer and Tanzid was late on the pull and got cramped for room. The left-hander got a faint top-edge onto his helmet and the ball got stuck between the grill.

Following the development, Tanzid had to undergo a mandatory concussion test and was deemed fine to resume.

Sharing the video, the ICC captioned the Instagram post:

“This delivery is locked in... Tanzid's helmet, that is.”
