Virat Kohli failed to score big in the 2024 T20 World Cup match between India and Afghanistan in Barbados on Thursday, June 20. The right-hander looked good for his run-a-ball 24 before holing out to long-off to leave the Men in Blue in a spot of bother at 62-3 after 8.3 overs.

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan bowled a flighted full-length ball on off stump and Kohli played it straight to Mohammad Nabi at wide long-off.

The senior batter failed to keep the ball on ground and got enough elevation to send it straight to the fielder stationed near the boundary. With that, Rashid struck in back-to-back overs after trapping Rishabh Pant lbw in his previous one.

Virat Kohli also failed to score big in the group-stage games at the 2024 T20 World Cup. The 35-year-old returned with scores of 1, 4 and 0 against Ireland, Pakistan and co-hosts USA, respectively. He will look to make amends in India’s upcoming games against Bangladesh and Australia on June 22 and 24, respectively.

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan spins a web around India in 2024 T20 World Cup Super-Eight clash

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan spun a web around India in the 2024 T20 World Cup Super Eight-clash. That came after India skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first.

At the time of writing, the Men in Blue were 90-4 after 11 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya at the crease. Shivam Dube (10 off 7) was the last batter to be dismissed, lbw by Rashid.

India will look to continue their winning streak after three victories in the group stage. Their last game against Canada was abandoned due to rain.

On the other hand, Afghanistan also won three out of four matches in the group stage. They, however, lost to co-hosts West Indies by 104 runs in their last outing. Thus, the Rashid Khan-led side would be keen to return to winning ways.
