"We could hardly afford him a packet of Amul Dairy or any milk" - Jasprit Bumrah's neighbor shares details of his mother's struggle

Jasprit Bumrah won the Player of the Tournament award in the recently concluded 2024 T20 World Cup, where India emerged as the champions. After the final match, Bumrah celebrated the win with his wife Sanjana Ganesan and their baby boy Angad.

While Jasprit Bumrah is among the highest-paid cricketers in the world right now, the journey to the top was not so easy for him. Deepal Trivedi, who was Bumrah family's neighbor during their days of struggle, posted a lengthy note on X, describing those days.

Jasprit's father Jasbir passed away when he was young. His mother Daljit worked 16-18 hours a day to make ends meet. Sharing her own struggle and Bumrah family's struggle, Deepal wrote that she would babysit the kid, who was more interested in a ball than a book, and she even ate his biscuits at times because she herself was starving.

"We were hopeless. That whole month, i handled the kids. Read to them. The boy was never interested and start playing with his cheap stupid plastic ball. I also sometimes,ate their biscuits coz' I was starving while babysitting. We starved, we struggled,we cried,we fought," a part of her post read.

Further sharing details of the hard time that Jasprit Bumrah saw while growing up, Deepal Trivedi added:

"But the boy's struggles were worst. We could hardly afford him a packet of Amul Dairy or any milk. We were all busy struggling to meet ends as he grew up. His mother worked atleast 16-18 hours a day."

Jasprit's 'rags to riches' story is quite inspiring, and Deepal wrote in her post that although he is a global superstar now, the Indian fast bowler has not changed one bit. Deepal mentioned that she felt lucky now to know that she was the first person to hold Jasprit in her hands.

Deepal credited Jasprit's mother Daljit and his sister Juhika for shaping his life and career. She concluded the post by writing that, 'God will help all of us but first we have to help ourselves.'
