India will take on England in the second semifinal of the 2024 T20 World Cup at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27. The knockout clash will begin at 8:00 PM IST (10:30 AM local time). The same two sides met in the second semifinal of the 2022 T20 World Cup in Adelaide, a one-sided clash in which England hammered India by 10 wickets.

After being unbeaten in the group stage, the Men in Blue topped Group 1 in the Super 8 round. They got the better of Afghanistan and Bangladesh and then registered a 24-run win over Australia. Batting first, India put up 205-5 and then held the Aussies to 181-7.

After going down to South Africa by seven wickets in their second Super 8 match, England confirmed their berth in the semifinals with a thumping 10-wicket win over the United States in Barbados. India will pose a much tougher challenge, but England have the arsenal to stop the Men in Blue juggernaut.

While there is a lot of excitement over the India vs England 2024 T20 World Cup semifinal in Guyana, there are chances of rain playing spoilsport in the much-awaited contest. In case of a rain delay, 250 minutes of additional time has been allotted for the semifinal by the ICC.

However, unlike the South Africa-Afghanistan semifinal, there is no reserve day for the India-England clash. This is because there is only a day's gap between the second semifinal and the final at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29. As such, the extra 250 minutes will have to be used up on the scheduled day.

Significantly, unlike in the earlier 2024 World Cup games, each side needs to face at least 10 overs for a game to be constituted as complete in the knockouts [semifinals and final]. In the event of the match being washed out, the team that finished higher in the Super 8 round with make it to the final.

In the case of the second semifinal, India will progress to the summit clash, while England will be knocked out. The Men in Blue finished first in Group 1, while England stood second in Group 2. If both the semifinals are washed out, India will meet South Africa in the final.
