India Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet Team India at 11 am on Thursday, July 4, in New Delhi, as per ANI. The Men in Blue are currently on their way to India after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup final in Barbados.

Initially, they were scheduled to leave on Monday, July 1, but were forced to postpone their plans due to the inclement weather conditions. BCCI secretary Jay Shah arranged a private flight for the contingent, which included the stranded Indian media persons.

A video of players boarding the flight was also posted by cricket journalist Nikhil Naz. Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma also shared a picture from the flight on Instagram alongside Suryakumar Yadav, with the caption:

"Coming home ❤️🏆."

Team India defeated South Africa in a thriller of a finale on June 29 to win their second T20 World Cup. Thanks to a brilliant knock of 76 runs by Virat Kohli, the Men in Blue put up a total of 176.

South Africa were on their way to lifting their first World Cup after 15 overs, needing 30 runs off the last five overs. However, the Indian bowlers, led by Jasprit Bumrah, came back strongly and a moment of brilliance on the field by Suryakumar Yadav helped the Men in Blue win their second T20 championship.

PM Modi congratulated Team India on their 2024 T20 World Cup triumph

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Team India by sharing a post on X for their victory in the 2024 World Cup. He spoke to the Indian cricket coach, Rahul Dravid. PM Modi also praised Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for their contribution to the Indian team in the shortest format of the game.

The Prime Minister took to X and shared his thoughts about Virat Kohli, saying that T20 Cricket will miss him:

"Dear @imVkohli, Glad to have spoken to you. Like the innings in the Finals, you have anchored Indian batting splendidly. You’ve shone in all forms of the game. T20 Cricket will miss you but I am confident you’ll continue to motivate the new generation of players."

He also praised Rohit Sharma for his contribution and the way he led the team:

"You are excellence personified. Your aggressive mindset, batting and captaincy has given a new dimension to the Indian team. Your T20 career will be remembered fondly. Delighted to have spoken to you earlier today."

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both announced their retirement from the shortest format of the game after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup.
