The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) next T20 World Cup will be held in June 2024 and will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the United States of America. This will be the ninth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup that takes place in the span of every two years.
The 2024 T20 World Cup will be the second instance for the West Indies to host the Twenty20 global tournament after 2010. However, this will be the first time for the USA to host the matches of a ICC event.
On November 16, 2021, the International Cricket Council announced USA to host the biennial event alongside the West Indies. This will be the fourth occasion the West Indies will be hosting a World Cup event on behalf of the ICC, and the first time ever that a major ICC event comes to the United States.
In October 2022, the ICC had temporarily suspended USA Cricket from hosting the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup as the board had continued non-compliance with the global governing body’s financial protocols and issues were highlighted by USA Cricket’s financial position. The funding to USA Cricket was also temporarily stopped. However, the ban does not hold any impact on conducting matches in the country.
