An intent merchant of the highest order laced with the ability to carve out long innings, Prithvi Shaw was touted as the next best thing in Indian cricket in his formative years. Shaw's stocks reached their zenith in 2018 when he led India to the U19 World Cup title in New Zealand. An IPL call-up was inevitable, and it eventually came during the 2018 mega auction, where Delhi Capitals shelled out INR 1.2 Crores for the uncapped Indian.

Shaw initially didn't get a chance in a strong Delhi set-up, but the poor form of then-skipper Gautam Gambhir paved the way for his debut. He gave a good account of himself in his debut season, smashing 245 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 153.12. The next couple of seasons proved to be disappointing for the pocket-sized dynamo as he struggled for consistency.

In 2020, Shaw hit a nadir in his IPL career as he was eventually dropped from the playing XI during the 2nd half of the season following repeated failures. In 13 innings, Shaw managed just 228 runs @ 17.53/136.52 with 2 50+ scores.

However, since then Prithvi has bounced back strongly in the past two seasons, asserting himself as one of the greatest power play specialists in the league's history. In 2021, Shaw scripted history when he became only the 2nd batsman in the history of the IPL to smash 6 fours in a single over.
