South Africa will take on Afghanistan in the first semifinal of the 2024 T20 World Cup at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad on Thursday, June 27. The match will start at 6:00 AM IST (8:30 PM local time).

The Proteas confirmed their place in the knockouts with a close three-wicket win over West Indies in Antigua. Bowling first, South Africa did well to restrict the Windies to 135-8 as Tabraiz Shamsi claimed 3-27. Chasing a revised target of 123 in 17 overs, South Africa stumbled to 110-7, but Marco Jansen (21* off 14) guided them home with a calm head.

Afghanistan also featured in a low-scoring thriller against Bangladesh. Batting first, they were held to 115 despite Rahmanullah Gurbaz's 43. Bangladesh were set a revised target of 114 in 19 overs. They were bowled out for 105 as Naveen-ul-Haq and Rashid Khan claimed four scalps each.
