Virender Sehwag had gotten India off to a fantastic start and once he was dismissed, India lost the momentum. He had small but critical partnerships with Harbhajan Singh and Zaheer Khan, which pushed India's total to 260. This gave the bowlers something to bowl with. Pakistan's insipid batting approach in the middle overs made matters more difficult and they eventually bowed out of the World Cup scoring 231.
