Going into the latest T20 World Cup of 2014, here is an analysis of India’s record against the teams they are likely to face in the competition.
In terms of win-loss ratio, India has been most successful against fierce rivals Pakistan, although the two have played only 5 games against each other. It also includes one tie in the inaugural ICC World T20 World Cup in South Africa, which India went on to win in the now redundant bowl-out. A good omen going into the curtain raiser of the World Cup 2014 tomorrow, against Pakistan.
Our record against the other 2 teams in our group, Australia and West Indies, is not nearly as impressive. Against Australia, we have a win-loss of 1, while against West Indies, our record is one of the poorest, with a ratio of just 0.5.
New Zealand has been our nemesis over the years, having lost all 4 matches against them. India would like to avoid the Black Caps if the two teams qualify from the group stages of the tournament.
