The African Cup Of Nations is the main international football competition in Africa. In the years since the competition was founded in 1957, Egypt has been the most successful nation in the tournament, seven time AFCON Winners, including three in a row between 2006 and 2010. But The Pharaohs have not won the tournament since then and will look to change that in the coming tournament.
Senegal won the latest edition of African Cup which was held in 2022 hosted by Cameroon. The tournament saw Senegal and Egypt go head to head in the final of the African cup nations. The match ended 0-0 even after extra time which resulted in a penalty shootout finish. In the end, it was Senegal who won the African Cup Nations by defeating Egypt 4-2 in the penalty shootout. The 2022 edition was Senegal's first ever win in all 16 AFCON tournaments that they have participated.
