Manchester United have added the name of Edin Terzic as a potential replacement for Erik ten Hag, as per journalist Alan Nixon. Manchester United's fan news account UtdPlug shared the same on X. They wrote:
"Edin Terzic is the shock name on Manchester United’s shortlist to replace Erik ten Hag. He has many admirers at Old Trafford."
Erik ten Hag's position as the manager of Manchester United is not safe. After the INEOS deal, the management were in search of managers but ultimately opted to continue with ten Hag. This was a new opportunity for the Dutch manager to prove his tactical prowess as the previous season was also underwhelming under his tutelage.
Edin Terzic is just 41 and a young and talented manager United might consider moving forward. The German manager has admirers at Old Trafford. Moreover, he has also worked in the Premier League before. He was the assistant manager to Slaven Bilic when the Croatian was working at West Ham United.
Terzic, in those seasons, worked for 106 games, 105 under Bilic, whom he helped in Besiktas prior to the Hammers gig. Post the West Ham tenure, Terzic joined Borussia Dortmund as the assistant to Lucien Favre and later took charge as the caretaker manager. His prowess compelled Dortmund to appoint him as the full-time in-charge of the side.
After a short tenure as the manager in the latter half of the 2020-21 season, Terzic was appointed as the technical director in the 2021-22 edition. But a season later, he was again called in as the manager. As of now, he is free of duties and could be a brilliant option for Manchester United, considering the squad they have at disposal.
Manchester United's horrible start to the campaign
This season, Manchester United have faced the worst start to a campaign since the Premier League was rebranded in the 1992-93 season. They have won just two games, drawn two more and lost the remaining three.
Currently placed 14th in the domestic league, Erik ten Hag's job is in danger. Even in the UEFA Europa League, the Red Devils are yet to secure a victory, having already played two fixtures. They have drawn both the fixtures against FC Twente and FC Porto, with a Harry Maguire goal in the latter securing them the solitary point.
Manchester United will be back in action on October 19, when they host Brentford at the Old Trafford.
