Arsenal are reportedly looking to add more strength to their goalkeeping department. As per Football Transfers, they are eyeing a move for Italian shot-stopper Alex Meret. He joined Napoli back in 2019 and has been a mainstay between the sticks for them.
His contract with the Serie A giants expires next summer and Napoli are yet to agree on an extension with the 27-year-old. Arsenal meanwhile, are looking to sign a top-class backup for David Raya, who has been sensational for them.
However, it would be a tough task for Mikel Arteta's side to convince Meret as they are eyeing him as a second-choice keeper. Not only Arsenal but Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with the Serie A star.
Arsenal's Premier League season and other potential targets
Arsenal have reportedly started looking forward to the next season and have identified striker Benjamin Sesko as a potential signing, as per The Daily Briefing.
A report from Caught Offside claims Arsenal are also looking at Ghana international Antoine Semenyo, who is currently playing for AFC Bournemouth, as a replacement for Raheem Sterling.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta's side are doing well in the Premier League season. They currently sit third in the table, level on points with Manchester City (17), who are second. Moreover, along with City, they are the only two clubs yet to suffer a defeat in the league this term.
In seven matches this season, Arsenal have won five and drawn two, including a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Manchester City. The Gunners will be back in action on Saturday (October 19), when they take on Bournemouth away from home in the league.
