Sophia Smith is an American soccer player who plays for the NWSL team Portland Thorns Football Club and also represents the US National Women’s Team. Her career as a footballer began when she played in the women’s soccer team at Stanford University and led them to win the national championship in 2019.

In the 2020 NWSL college draft, Sophia Smith was the first overall pick and joined Portland Thorns. She suffered a foot injury in her first professional season but performed well in the next season. In 2022, she won the Championship with Thorns and was named Most Valuable Player. She also won the 2023 NWSL Golden Boot for most goals scored in that season.
