What is the lore behind Wingman in Fortnite?

Wingman is an OG character in the Metaverse. Although he is not as old as Renegade Raider, he is a prominent face in-game. Sadly, given that he was released six years ago, it is rare to see this character being used in a match. Most players do not own the skins or were unable to acquire it. That being said, his design is rather unique in many ways.

Staying true to his name, Wingman is dressed like an airforce pilot - gear adorning his body from top to bottom. In all probability, the inspiration behind the character comes from air force pilots in full combat gear. His official in-game description reads, "Flying under the radar." This indicates that he has taken part in sorties, but probably not in the current reality.

This opens up a whole new can of worms and leads to the question of where Wingman originally came from. Since reality has shifted a few times, this question remains unknown for the time being.
