Rocket Racing is an arcade racing game, developed by Psyonix within Fortnite that was released on December 8th, 2023 as part of the multiverse update. In this fast-paced arcade racer, up to 12 players race each other in rocket-powered cars on a wide assortment of tracks filled with various boosts, obstacles, and shortcuts that can be used to gain the upper hand. Players can race in ranked or private (unranked) races with friends or by themselves.
Rocket Racing offers players the option to choose between private matches and public lobbies as well as select specific tracks they wish to race on. Only Public races offer ranked points and ranked rewards that can be used to rank up in this game mode. Finishing in the top four offers more points to help rank up.
The game mode offers a comprehensive ranking system that is independent of Fortnite Battle Royale ranking. Here are the rankings available in Rocket Racing:
Bronze ( 3 tiers)
Silver (3 tiers)
Gold (3 tiers)
Platinum (3 tiers)
Diamond (3 tiers)
Elite
Champion
Unreal
Completing every Ranked race allows players to progress through each rank, starting from Bronze right up to Unreal. As players rank up, they unlock harder tracks. New tracks are unlocked at Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond ranks. Players who reach rank Elite and Beyond are not demoted to lower ranks even if they finish beyond the top four. It is also significantly harder to rank up when players reach Elite and beyond.
Ranks reset at the end of every season of Rocket Racing, just like Fortnite Battle Royale.
Rocket Racing also has its series of daily, weekly, and season quests that can help players gain significant XP and contribute toward leveling up the Battle Pass.
Rocket Racing offers many different gameplay techniques like Drifting, Jumping, Flying, and Turbo that players can use to be the first to complete a race. The tracks are filled with boost pads and speed zones that help players get ahead of their opponents. Players can fill their turbo meters by drifting and once enough, they can get extra speed boosts to power their way through to victory.
All vehicles are made equal in Rocket Racing and feature equal power, stats, and boost. Players have a wide assortment of car bodies, boosts, wheels, and trails as well as vehicle bundles that they can purchase to change the visual aspect of their vehicles. Rocket Racing and Rocket League have many shared cosmetics that can be used across both game modes if owned in either.
