About AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2024

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am
AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2024 took place from January 31 to February 4 at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill. The final day of the event was shortened to 54 holes due to weather and was won by Wyndham Clark for 17-under-199; he won 700 FedExCup points along with the $3.6 million winner's share of the $20 million purse. He won by a margin of one stroke as he defeated Ludvig Aberg.

The 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is one of the eight PGA Tour’s signature events; the other tournaments include the Sentry Tournament of Champions, the Genesis Invitational, the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, RBC Heritage, the Wells Fargo Championship, the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday, and the Travelers Championship.

The Monterey Peninsula Foundation, which is the host organization for the tournament, is pleased to announce that, in the course of our most recent fiscal year, the Foundation gave almost $18 million to more than 200 nonprofit organizations in the counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito.

In 2023, Aaron Rodgers and Ben Silverman won the amateur AT&T with a score of 189 over 54 holes, and Justin Rose emerged victorious from the AT&T Pebble Beach (professional), marking his eleventh PGA Tour triumph.

The weather delay in the middle of the week didn't affect Rose's control over his game. He finished his final-round front nine before play was halted due to darkness, and he held a two-shot lead at 15 under in the morning. After that, Rose made three more birdies in his last nine holes to finish the tournament at 18 under, three strokes ahead of Brendon Todd and Brandon Wu, who placed T-2 at 15 under.

AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2024 History

Historically, the Bing Crosby National Pro-Amateur, or simply the Crosby Clambake, was the original name of the tournament, established in 1937 and held at Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club in San Diego County, southern California. Sam Snead took home the $500 winner's share in the inaugural tournament, which consisted of just 18 holes.

Initially, in 1947, the event was a 54-hole tournament and by 1958, the event was changed to a 72-hole format on golf courses close to Monterey, and it has been held there ever since. It was played at Pebble Beach Golf Links, Cypress Point Club, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club starting that year and continuing until 1966.

The new Spyglass Hill took the place of Monterey Peninsula CC as the third course in 1967. Due to its refusal to accept an African-American member, private Cypress Point was eliminated by the PGA Tour after 1990. Poppy Hills took its place in 1991 and continued to host events there until 2009. MPCC brought Poppy Hills back into the rotation in 2010 after the players did not enjoy it, mostly because of the bad drainage.

Once the 1985 tournament concluded, the Crosby name was withdrawn, and in 1986, AT&T Corporation took over as the title sponsor. The Monterey Peninsula Foundation is in charge of organizing it.

In this particular event, Gene Littler has a unique record. Littler's victory in the 1975 event was the first time a player had ever won this specific tournament as a professional after having played as an amateur on the winning pro-am team in 1954, when he was 23 years old.
