Silverstone is often dubbed as the Motorsports Valley in the world of automobile racing. It has a special significance in Formula 1, where many dub it to be the ‘home race’ since several teams in the sport are based out of Silverstone. Lewis Hamilton, George Russell and Lando Norris are the current drivers in the grid, who call the British Grand Prix their home race.

The 2021 title battle was famous for the incident between the title contenders Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen. Max Verstappen also suffered a horrific crash, suffering a force of 51Gs.

British Grand Prix history

The 1950 British GP was the first ever Formula 1 race. It was conquered by Alfa Romeo driver Giuseppe “Nino” Farina. The race was attended by King George VI. The very next edition of the race was also one of the key moments in Formula 1. The 1952 British GP was Scuderia Ferrari’s first ever victory in Formula 1, which came courtesy of Argentine driver José Froilán González. The 2023 British Grand Prix was won by Max Verstappen. The 2022 British Grand Prix on the other hand was Carlos Sainz’s first ever victory in Formula 1.
