History

The European Cricket League was framed in 2019 with a goal to develop and popularize cricket in the European continent. The tournament was played in the T-10 format. It's the cricket equivalent of the UEFA Champions League. Similar to UCL, clubs all around Europe that are champions in domestic tournaments in their respective countries participate in the ECL.

The inaugural tournament was hosted at the La Manga Club, Spain. Only 8 clubs participated in the 2019 ECL. VOC Rotterdam were crowned the first champions of the tournament after defeating the SG Findorff by 101 runs in the final. Sixteen champion teams from 15 countries were supposed to feature in the European Cricket League T10 2020.
