The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 will take place in India between October 05-November 19.

In this era of big bats and flat pitches, it is likely that the upcoming event will be yet another run-fest. And, so, bowlers who have the ability to generate dot balls consistently will be a big asset for their team.

Delivering dot balls and maidens on a regular basis is a testimony to a bowler's discipline with regards to his/her line and length. And, such bowlers are worth their way to gold in white-ball cricket.

This is because of the fact that not only do such bowlers stem the flow of runs, but they also create a lot of pressure on the batsmen to break free. The other bowlers also benefit from them as the batsman tend to attack the former, thereby running the risk of getting dismissed.

Over the years, plenty of such bowlers have graced the World Cup, but none has graced it better than the most successful bowler in the history of this event- former Aussie seamer Glenn McGrath.

McGrath delivered a record 39 maidens in his legendary World Cup career that spanned across 4 campaigns. He also finished as the leading wicket-taker (71); a record which is yet to be broken.

Sri Lanka's Chaminda Vaas did a similar job for his team like McGrath did for the Aussies. Not only did he stem the run-flow, but he also struck regularly. Overall, he delivered 39 maidens in his 31-match WC career.

Legendary Kiwi all-rounder Sir Richard Hadlee is at the 3rd spot, with 38 maidens, followed by Proteas champion seamer Shaun Pollock, who delivered 37 maidens in his WC career.

Former England all-rounder Sir Ian Botham rounds off the top-5, with 33 maidens against his name.

The only Indian in the top-10 is the 1983 World Cup-winning captain, Kapil Dev, who earned 27 maidens in his 22-match WC career.
