About Indian National Racing Championship
The FMSCI ( Federation of Motorsport Clubs of India) Indian National Racing Championship 2018 features the Formula Cars and Saloon Cars racing series held at the Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore and Madras Motor Sport Track, Chennai.
The Formula Cars comprises of the MRF Formula Ford 1600 (F1600) which the premier class and LGB 1300 cars. The F1600 is powered by a twin cam 1.6 Litre Ford Duratec engine putting out 140 bhp mated to a 5 speed sequential gear box. The winner of the MRF Formula series 2018 earns a drive to the Mazda Road to Indycar shoot at the United States of America. The LGB 1300 is the entry level Formula F4 with a 1.3 Litre engine.
The drivers competing in the Formula MRF F1600 series 2018 are Ashwin Datta, Keith Dsouza, Yash Aradhya, Goutham Parekh, Sandeep Kumar, Raghul Rangaswamy, Karminder Singh, Nayan Chatterjee, Nabil Hussain, Arya Singh, Nirmal Umashankar, and Chetan Korada.
The Saloon Cars class is further divided into various classes based on the technical regulations set by the FMSCI. The premier class being the Indian Touring Cars (ITC) based on production cars assembled in India such as Honda City Vtec, Suzuki Esteems, Honda Brio and Honda Jazz.
The Super Stock, Esteem cup, and the one make VW Ameo Cup cars are the other class in the National Championship series.
The main drivers in the Indian Touring Cars ( Previously Super Saloon) class are Arjun Balu from Race Concepts Bangalore, N. Leela Krishnan, Ashish Ramaswamy, Nikanth Ram from Arka Motorsport Bangalore, D. Vidya Prakash, B. Vijay Kumar from Prime Racing, Coimbatore, and Fahad Kutty, Kammy Parmar from team Game Over, Mumbai.
