About Ireland vs Netherlands 2021
The Netherlands will host the Ireland cricket team for an ODI bilateral series in the month of June 2021. The ‘Netherlands A’ had locked horns against their Irish counterparts, known as ‘Ireland Wolves’ as a practice series for the international series soon after.
They played three One-Day matches in Ireland and the home side won the series 2-1. The home advantage has now shifted to the Netherlands Cricket Team and will be looking to use it to full effect.
History
First-ever Ireland vs Netherlands ODI took place in Scotland in 2006. It failed to produce a result and the two teams had to wait until the next year to play a completed ODI game against each other.
Coming to 2021, the two teams have come face-to-face in the ODI format 10 times. Ireland has won 7 of those and lost just 1. One was the tied game in 2006 and their most recent encounter, albeit 8 years ago, ended in a tie. They will be played against each other in the ODI format for the first time since July 2013.
Format
The IRE vs NED series will consist of just 3 ODIs contested in a span of 6 days. The first ODI will be played on June 2, followed by the second ODI on June 4. The third and final game of the series will be played on June 7. All three matches will be played at Sportpark Maarschalkerweerd in Utrecht.
