The Mizuho Americas Open was founded in 2023 and is sponsored by the Japanese financial services firm Mizuho Financial Group. The purse for the inaugural tournament was $2.75 million, with Rose Zhang taking home $412,500 as the winner. Zhang won her debut event in the playoffs over Jennifer Kupcho, an instance that occurred for the first time on the LPGA Tour in 72 years, since Beverly Hanson in 1951.
The following season, two-time major champion Nelly Korda defeated Hannah Green by a single shot in the 2024 tournament, which featured a $3 million total purse with a $450,000 winner's share.

The Mizuho Americas Open 2025 will be held at the Liberty National Golf Club, New Jersey, in the United States.
Liberty National Golf Club debuted in July 2006, designed by Tom Kite and Robert E. Cupp. Dan Fireman, managing partner of Fireman Capital Partners, and his father, Paul Fireman, the former chairman and CEO of Reebok, created the course. It is one of the most lucrative golf courses, featuring a spa, a restaurant, and a direct ferry service, among others. It has previously hosted the 2017 Presidents Cup and the 2019 PGA FedEx Cup Playoffs event, the Northern Trust (FedEx St. Jude Championship).
