About Raid de Himalaya
Raid de Himalaya is an International Motor Rally which takes place in the Indian state's of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir. This Rally raid is considered to one of the toughest and dangerous Motorsport event in the world.
Mr. Vijay Parmar from India is the founder and the chief Organizer of Raid de Himalaya, the Himalayan Motorsport Association conducts the event annually in the month of October.
The first edition of Raid de Himalaya took place in the year 1999 and Sanjay Sikand from India was the first winner of the legendary rally. Suresh Rana hailing from Himachal Pradesh is one of the most successful drivers in this rally, he has won it a record ten times in the past.
Participants from around the world take part in this event, completing this gruel-some rally is considered to be achievement by many. This rally is not only about speed for the riders and the drivers, as they race in sub zero temperature's in some of the roughest and rockiest terrains, narrow mountain roads in rain, snow and slush. The oxygen level is particularly concern in the high altitude.
The 20th edition of Raid the Himalaya is scheduled to take place from the 8th of October to 14th of October 2018. The rally will be flagged off from Leh, Jammu and Kashmir and will pass through Lamayuru, Kargil, Drass, Debring and will conclude at Leh. This year stages will pass through some of the highest mountain passes in the world such as Sirisir La, Tang Lang La, Umba La and Panzi La pass in the Himalayan mountain range.
