About 2018 Russian Open

The Russia Open is an annual badminton tournament held in Russia since 1993. Formerly, the tournament was known as USSR International.

The 2018 edition of the tournament will be held from 24th July to 29th July 2018 and has a total prize money of $750,000.

Venue and Details

The tournament will once again be hosted at the Sport Hall Olympic in Vladivostok, Russia and is a part of the BWF Tour Super 100. It is the fifth Super 100 tournament of the 2018 BWF World Tour.

The tournament is organized by the National Badminton Federation of Russia and is sanctioned by the BWF.

Seeding at 2018 Russia Open

Spaniard Pablo Abian is the top seed of the men’s singles tournament in the 2018 edition. Russian Vladimir Malkov is once again the second seed. Three Indians figure in the top ten seeds of the men’s singles division. Parupalli Kashyap is the fourth seed followed by Subhankar Dey. Top seed from last year, Sourabh Verma is the tenth seed in this edition.

Kashyap will start his campaign against the winner of the match between Soo T Z and R. Maruo.

Defending champion Evgeniya Kostetskaya is the top seed from the women’s singles event.

Prize Money

The prize money for the winner of the singles event is $5,625. All the doubles winners will get $5,925.
