About Scotland vs Afghanistan 2019
The Afghanistan National Cricket team is all set to tour Scotland on a two-match ODI series in May ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. As we already, know that Afghanistan along with the West Indies qualified for the ICC Cricket World Cup after battling their way onto the top at the ICC CWC Qualifiers.
It is going to be a two-match ODI series starting on May 8, 2019, with the second match being played on May 10, 2019. Both the matches would be played at the Grange Cricket Club, Edinburgh and would begin at 15:30 (IST).
Afghanistan last visited Scotland in July 2016. It was to a two-match ODI series in which Afghanistan came out triumphant after winning the rain-affected series 1-0. They have last played each other in the ICC CWC Qualifiers in March 2018 in which Scotland defeated the Afghans by 7 wickets. This tour of Scotland by Afghanistan is more of a part of their CWC preparations. Scottish conditions are fairly similar to those at England and Wales, where the ICC Cricket World Cup is going to take place. These two ODIs might come in handy a lot more than one can expect. Also, it would be a great opportunity for the newly appointed captain, Gulbadin Naib who replaced Asgar Afghan in April 2019.
It is going to be an extremely crucial series for the Afghanistan National Cricket Team in terms of finding the perfect playing XI ahead of their first ICC World Cup encounter, where they are going to play Australia on 1st June 2019.
