The 2008 is marred by the fact that Nelson Piquet Jr. was ordered by Renault to crash so that the safety would benefit Fernando Alonso. The first Singapore GP was won by Fernando Alonso for Renault. The 2023 Singapore GP was won by Carlos Sainz and is among the only few races which were won by a non-Red Bull driver in 2023.

The race track was modified in 2023 to reduce the number of turns to 19. It features 3 DRS zones to facilitate overtaking and follows an anti-clockwise race format. The lap record is held by Lewis Hamilton who set a time of 1:35.867 in 2023.

The driver who is known as the “Lion of Singapore” is Sebsatian Vettel. The German retired after the 2022 season but has the most number of wins in the Singapore GP event. He has won the race 5 times, including three consecutive victories from 2011-2013. The 2018 Singapore GP was his last victory in Formula 1 racing. Ferrari is the best team in the event with 5 victories.
