About National Womens One-Day Tournament
The Women’s One Day Cup 2021 got underway on September 9 in Pakistan. This tournament has marked the beginning of the domestic season of women’s cricket in Pakistan.
The Pakistan women’s cricket team has been gradually improving, and keeping the upcoming big tournaments in mind, the Pakistan cricket-governing body has organized a four-team tournament featuring some of the top women’s cricketers of the country. The four teams that are participating in the Pakistan Women’s One Day Cup 2021 are PCB Challengers, PCB Dynamites, PCB Strikers and PCB Blasters.
History
Pakistan has produced some top-quality cricketers, and their men’s cricket team has won the ICC T20 World Cup, Cricket World Cup and ICC Champions Trophy. The women’s cricket team of Pakistan is yet to achieve a big win at the grand stages.
So far, the best performance of the Pakistan women’s cricket team in the 50-over World Cup has been a 5th place finish in 2009. With the Women’s 50-over World Cup set to happen in 2022, Pakistan will aim to perform better, and for that, their women’s players need to have good match practice.
Women’s One Day Cup 2021 Format
Women’s One Day Cup 2021 will be played in a 50-over format. Each team will play 50 overs in an innings and the team with the most runs will win.
There are four teams in the tournament. Each team will play against each other twice, meaning one team will play a total of six league matches. The top two teams will play the final, while the bottom two teams will play the 3rd place playoff.
