This week, PGA Tour players teed off at the inaugural edition of the 2024 Black Desert Championship in Utah. The tournament began with its first round on Thursday, 10 October, featuring a stellar full-sized field.
Several golfers are in contention to win their first PGA Tour event this week, including Matt McCarty. The American golfer had a strong start and could win the tournament.

Matt McCarty started off great with a round of 9-under 62 at the PGA Tour event. He teed it up on the first hole and carded three birdies and an eagle on the front nine. He shot four birdies on the back nine and settled for a score of 9-under, in a tie for second place.
McCarty has won four professional events in his career, including three on the Korn Ferry Tour. However, he still searches for his maiden win on the PGA Tour.

Ryan Fox was also impressive with his game in the first round of the 2024 Black Desert Championship. He carded a bogey on the first hole and two bogeys in the first three holes but quickly bounced back in the game, shooting a birdie on the seventh and an eagle on the ninth.
Fox added five more birdies on the back nine to score 6-under 65, tying for sixth place. The Kiwi golfer has won 17 professional tournaments in his career but is seeking his first win on the PGA Tour.

Having turned pro in 2018, Doug Ghim is still seeking his maiden professional win on the PGA Tour. He also shot 6-under 65 in the opening round of the Black Desert Championship and has a good chance to win the PGA Tour event this week.
The American golfer started the game with a birdie on the first hole followed by a bogey on the second. He shot four birdies and a bogey on the front nine and three on the back nine for a round of 6-under 65, tying for sixth place.

Ben Kohles also has his eyes on his first PGA Tour title this week. He has four won events, but all of them on the Korn Ferry Tour. He had a good start at the 2024 Black Desert Championship and shot a round of 65 on Thursday.
The American golfer started the game on the tenth hole with a birdie. He shot six birdies, two bogeys, and an eagle in the first round to settle for a score of 6-under 65. Following the semi-finished first round, Kohles tied for sixth place.

Rico Hoey shot 5-under 66 in the opening round of the tournament and is in contention to win his maiden PGA Tour title. He teed it up on the first hole and shot two birdies and an eagle on the front nine, and carded two bogeys along with three birdies on the back nine.
