The US Open begins on Thursday, June 13. This is the next opportunity for 156 golfers to win a Major.
For some, it is their chance to cement their legacy as all-time greats. Others are still searching for their first Major win, an illustrious club that not everyone gets into.
Here are a few golfers who could win at Pinehurst this weekend and get into that club.
Golfers who can win their first Major at the US Open
5) Tom Kim
Tom Kim is only 21, but he has played in every single Major. He placed within the top 10 at the US Open in 2023 and he could finally break through with a win at Pinehurst this year.
Kim is currently 66-1 to win, odds that are on the stronger side for golfers who have yet to win a Major. He's young, but he's experienced enough to put together an impressive weekend.
4) Patrick Cantlay
A 32-year-old veteran, Patrick Cantlay has eight PGA Tour wins but zero Major victories. He came close in 2019 at the PGA Championship, but it has otherwise been largely frustrating. Per ESPN, Cantlay is 70-1 to win a Major for the first time in his career this weekend.
3) Viktor Hovland
After some disappointing results, it appears that Viktor Hovland is trending in the right direction. The young golfer has played plenty of Majors, but he has yet to win one.
Hovland finished third with a -18 score in the 2024 PGA Championship and has good odds (18-1) to win the US Open. That would be the breakthrough he's been looking for.
2) Rickie Fowler
Rickie Fowler is a longtime PGA Tour veteran and a fan favorite, but he's never won a Major. He came fairly close at the US Open in 2023. Entering the final round, he was 10 under par. Wyndham Clark, the eventual winner, scored 10 under.
Unfortunately, Fowler was five over in the fourth round, so he didn't get into a playoff with Clark or win, but he might be able to break the losing streak in 2024.
1) Ludvig Aberg
Ludvig Aberg's winless streak at Major tournaments is just two since the 2024 Masters and PGA Championship are his only appearances to date. He came close in the Masters Tournament, finishing second to Scottie Scheffler.
Aberg is billed as a generational talent and it is likely only a matter of time before he wins a Major. He has good odds (22-1) to do so this weekend at Pinehurst No. 2.
