The 2024 US Open's tee-off is less than a week away and the field is almost complete, with 12 LIV Golfers present.
The breakaway league players qualified in several of the exemption categories, as well as in the final qualifiers.
Below is the list of LIV Golf players who have qualified for the 2024 US Open:
- Bryson DeChambeau
- Dustin Johnson
- Martin Kaymer
- Brooks Koepka
- Jon Rahm
- Cameron Smith
- Phil Mickelson
- Tyrrell Hatton
- Adrian Meronk
- Eugenio Lopez Chacarra
- David Puig
- Dean Burmester.
Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Martin Kaymer, Brooks Koepka and Jon Rahm have won the 2024 US Open for the last 10 years. Meanwhile, Cameron Smith and Phil Mickelson are exempt because they won one of the other three Majors in the last five years.
Tyrrell Hatton earned his spot in the field by finishing in the top 30 in the 2023 FedEx Cup, while Adrian Meronk did so by finishing as one of the two highest-ranked players not otherwise exempt in the 2023 Race to Dubai.
Finally, Eugenio Lopez Chacarra, David Puig and Dean Burmester made it to the US Open through the final qualifiers. More than 30 LIV Golf players sought qualification through this route.
Can any other LIV Golf player still make it to US Open field?
The last chance to earn a US Open exemption ends on June 10. Players who are in the Top 60 of the world rankings on that date and are not otherwise exempt will earn their ticket to Pinehurst.
However, it is unlikely that any LIV Golf player will enter this group. All LIV players currently in the Top 60 are already qualified, and the closest are Lucas Herbert and Joaquin Niemann, currently ranked 94th and 95th.
For this reason, LIV Golf players have only two possibilities left to enter the event, although both are remote. The first is to receive a special invitation and the other is to enter as an alternate, in case a player withdraws before the start of the event.
LIV Golf players received special invitations for both the Masters and the PGA Championship, but the United States Golf Association (USGA) have not shown any signs of considering this variant. The only invitation issued so far has been to Tiger Woods.
As for the possibility of entering as an alternate, the list has not been made public yet. The chances of playing in the event through this route depend on how well-positioned the player is on the list.
