Koepka looked in complete control of his game, but his performance on the green stood out among everything. Hence, after Round 1, he revealed a few things about his putter, Scotty Cameron, and his putting coach, Jeff Pierce.

"I think I've learned that I never need to go away from that putter. That was a good thing. But yeah, I just got too mechanical. I was talking with Jeff Pierce, my putting coach, and I felt like I was hitting so many lips, and it was just aggravating me. But we talked about it, and it's very difficult to hit lips. You're obviously hitting good putts sometimes they just might not go in," Koepka told the media.

Brooks Koepka said it was just because of speed, as the putts were dying in front of the hole and were not aggressive enough. So, he has gone back to basics.

"I think that's something we've gone back to basics, not really worrying about if the face is so many degrees open or it's rotating so many degrees through; it's more of just get up and react and go hit it. I think that's something everybody can do. When it's not going well, just go back to basics and kind of regroup from there," the five-time LIV Golf winner revealed.

Brooks Koepka has already registered two victories on LIV Golf this season. Despite this, the 34-year-old golfer hasn't maintained consistency as he struggled with his performance on the green. He is ranked 30th in the putting average this year and has a putting average of 1.6, while the best putter of the season, Cameron Smith, averages 1.51.

The top two golfers, Jon Rahm and Joaquin Niemann have 195.17 points and 192.20 points, respectively, while Koepka has 126.73 points, so even if he wins the LIV Golf Chicago event, he will finish in the third spot.

So only the Spainiard and the Chilean golfer are in contention to win the season-long individual championship. In the team championship event, Koepka's Smash GC has an outside of winning the team championship event next week at LIV Golf Dallas.

However, the Crushers GC and Legion XIII have the best of winning as they are placed at the top with 176.50 points and 176 points, respectively.
