The latest season of the PGA Tour is set to tee off on Thursday, January 2, with The Sentry 2025. The event, being played at the Plantation Course at Kapalua in Maui, features a stacked 60-player field. The field will be headlined by World No. 2 Xander Schauffele and he is also the outright favorite to win the competition.
Schauffele, who had a stellar 2024 season, tops the odds list to win the $3,600,000 champion’s paycheck from the event’s whopping $20,000,000 purse. As per SportsLine, the reigning PGA Championship winner comes into the event weekend with 11-2 odds. Justin Thomas follows him with 18-2 odds.
It is pertinent to note that Schauffele is the highest-ranked player on The Sentry 2025 as World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler pulled out with an injury. The 31-year-old, who won two Major titles in 2024, will be looking to replicate the success in the 2025 season.
For the unversed, Schauffele ended his 2024 season with a T41 finish at the ZOZO Championship in October, a month after he finished T4 at the Tour Championship.
Schauffele started off his PGA Tour champing last year with a T10 finish in Maui. It’ll be interesting to see if the in-form golfer manages to better the result this weekend.
