LIV Golf in "high level talks" with Fox Sports to air the Saudi-backed series - Report

Some reports suggest that LIV Golf may be getting a high-profile upgrade for its broadcast. The Saudi-backed golf league is currently broadcast largely on the CW after navigating a television deal to partner with the tour's streaming efforts to get it into more homes.

The CW doesn't boast the ratings that the biggest TV networks do, but LIV may be moving up. According to a report published by the Sports Business Journal, LIV Golf is in potential talks with FOX, with "high level discussions" taking place regarding broadcasts of the 2025 season and beyond.

Scott O'Neill is set to replace Greg Norman as the CEO of the tour, and he's reportedly talking and playing golf with Alan Gold, a head executive at FOX.

This is not the first time that FOX and LIV Golf have found themselves being mentioned together. In 2022, a report surfaced that the two sides were close to an agreement that would have seen the golf tour on FS1.

LIV Golf and FOX may find their interests converging

According to the report, LIV's season schedule may be advantageous for FOX. The network does a ton of NFL coverage in the fall, but the LIV Golf season ends before the NFL season begins. That would clear the schedule for FOX to shift its focus back to football after focusing on golf during the offseason.

FOX has long been tabbed as the ideal television network partner for LIV. This is because most other major networks, including NBC, CBS, ABC, and ESPN, are connected to the PGA Tour and PGA of America. That creates a conflict of interest.

As of now, FOX has no golf commitments or ties, so they'd be free to partner with LIV without any issues pertaining to the current state of golf. When the merger goes through, there may not be a roadblock for the other major networks, so FOX might act fast to get LIV locked down before anyone else can.
