Peter Uihlein is playing the London event of the Asian Tour's International Series. The American leads the tournament after 36 holes with a stellar performance that included a new course record for the Foxhills Club & Resort in Surrey, England.
Uihlein shot a 10-under 61 in the second round of the event to break the previous course record. His performance included one eagle, nine birdies and one bogey.
This extraordinary round helped Peter Uihlein climb to the top of the leaderboard, one stroke ahead of Robert Dinwiddie and fellow LIV Golf player Thomas Pieters.
After his record round, Peter Uihlein had this to say to LIV Golf News Service:
"I drove it nice in some key areas on the par 5s, and the drivable holes, and kept it in between the trees, which is all you need to do. I putted unbelievable. I putted really, really well."
"Made a lot of pars around six, seven, eight, big par putts to kind of keep the round going when I was a couple under early, so that was nice."
The International Series London has several LIV Golf players in the field and several of them are in contention for the title. In addition to Peter Uihlein (1st) and Thomas Pieters (T2), Caleb Surrat is 4th, Richard Bland is tied for 5th and Branden Grace is tied for 7th, all within four strokes or less of the leader.
Peter Uihlein's 2024 Season at a Glance
Peter Uihlein is in his third season with LIV Golf, currently playing for RangeGoats GC. In 2024, he has played in all 11 events on the circuit and has only one top-10 finish.
That result came in Las Vegas when he tied for second behind Dustin Johnson. Uihlein has three other individual top-25 finishes and two team podiums during the season.
His results rank him 26th in the season's individual standings. This puts him in what is known as the "Open Zone," which means that his team can release him at the end of the season, but he will not lose his spot on LIV Golf.
The London event is Uihlein's fourth Asian Tour event of the season. He has two top-10 finishes in three previous events, including a tie for third at the Saudi Open.
Uihlein's LIV Golf career includes 31 individual events. He has never won, but has four second-place finishes. He has five other top 10s.
Uihlein's professional career began in 2011 after an outstanding stint in amateur golf, which included winning the US Amateur in 2010. He has not fared as well as a professional, with just three wins, including two on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Uihlein has played in just 11 editions of the Majors, making the cut three times. His best finish was a T44 at the 2017 Open Championship.
