Michael Kim takes veiled dig at PGA Tour for mispronouncing his name

Michael Kim recently took a dig at the PGA Tour for reportedly mispronouncing his name during the 2025 Farmers Invitational. This PGA Tour event at the Torrey Pines Golf Course, San Diego, came to an end on January 25.

The pro golfer shared his thoughts on his official X (previously Twitter) account, where he has around 132k followers. This post came only after Kim faced an unfortunate incident of his name getting mispronounced. Following that, the 2018 John Deere Classic winner shared a list of names and their correct pronunciations. Michael Kim wrote in his post:

"Pga tour pronounciation guide… my starter at RSM needed this when he asked me how to pronounce my name..."

Kim's post gained a variety of responses and several users on X were amused to see his post. Many users saw the fun side of Kim's post and engaged with it.

The list contained names from every other golfer on the 2025 season of the PGA Tour, including Sahith Theegala, Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Åberg, Max Homa, Collin Morikawa, Patrick Cantlay, Sepp Straka and many more. However, the printed list appeared to have left out the only name, and that was none other than Michael Kim.

The 31-year-old golfer from the United States of America participated in this year's Farmers Insurance Open. After the fourth round, it was clear that he missed the cut for this PGA Tour event by nine strokes. He scored a 5-over 77 in the first two rounds at the Torrey Pines Golf Course.

Addressing this, Kim penned down a note for his fans and also shared his plans for the next tournament. Michael Kim wrote on X:

"In all seriousness, there are times where I miss the cut and feel like I have a million things to work on but this isn’t one of those times. I’ll still work on my game but good golf doesn’t feel that far away and I’m looking forward to the Waste management in a couple weeks,"

The WM Phoenix Open 2025 will start from February 6 and continue till February 9, 2025. Kim and other PGA Tour pros will be back at the TPC Scottsdale - Stadium course, competing over the 18-hole-course.
