The Travelers Championship 2024's last signature event, is scheduled to happen at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell, Connecticut, one week after the U.S. Open. In 2023, Keegan Bradley won the tournament by a margin of three shots and set a record for the lowest score (257), earning him the trophy and $3.6 million in prize money.
Originally known as the Insurance City Open, the event was established in 1952. In 1967, it changed its name to the Greater Hartford Open, and it stayed that way until 2003. Followed by the name being changed to the Buick Championship for three years and then the Travelers Championship.
This will be players' last opportunity to move up into the top-10 and improve their chances of earning a significant sum of money as the FedEx Cup playoffs get closer. The Travelers Championship has been held at the TPC River Highlands since 1984 and is overseen by the Greater Hartford Community Foundation.
According to PGA Tour members, the Travelers Championship was awarded the Players Choice Award in 2017 and 2018. The Summer Olympics in 2016 caused the event to be moved from August to June; however, in 2017, it was moved back to June.

Travelers Championship 2024 Course details
TPC River Highlands is a private golf club with 6,852 yards and a 70-par course that is located in Cromwell, Connecticut. 1928 saw the founding of Edgewood Country Club, which changed its name to Edgewood Country Club in 1934. It was acquired by PGA in the early 1980s.
Golf course architect Pete Dye redesigned the course to TPC's level of quality, and it reopened in 1984 as the "TPC of Connecticut." After Bobby Weed made more improvements to the course in 1989, the course was renamed TPC at River Highlands with assistance from golfers Howard Twitty and Roger Maltbie.

Travelers Championship Tournament Purse History
In 1952, the tournament had a purse of $15,000 and the winner's share of $2,400. Its steady growth from the latter amount to the $8.3 million of the 2022 season was the culmination of its 72-year-old history.
The winner of the then-Buick-sponsored tournament in 2006 took home the winner's share of $792,000 from the purse of $4.4 million. Travelers sponsored a $6 million purse between 2007 and 2010, of which $1,080,000 went to the winner.
However, in the 2023 season, it became a signature event, and the purse increased to $20 million with the winner's share of $3.6 million. The same will be followed in the 2024 season.
