It is still not clear if Tiger Woods will play in The Genesis Invitational. However, as per the Twitter handle TW Legion, Tiger may make his return to the PGA Tour with Genesis.

"Based on all intel I have, there’s some signs of life for the Genesis but not sure if a decision has been made yet. We will find out this coming week if Tiger will play his first official PGA TOUR since the accident. I wouldn’t get too excited either way yet."

Tiger is also the host of the event at the Riviera Country Club and was recently seen announcing Marcus Byrd as this year's exemption for the event.

The deadline for participation is Friday 5 pm (ET). In another tweet, TW Legion stated:

"🚨Tomorrow at 5 but history says good things don’t usually happen on Fridays with him. Who knows maybe this time is different."

Tiger Woods has been out of the PGA Circuit since 2021 when he had a terrible car accident that kept him away from the game for a long time. During last year's Masters, he made a return to professional golf. The 150th Open was another official tournament that he participated in.

The 15-time Major winner is yet to recover from the plantar fasciitis on his right foot that developed following his car accident. Woods has mentioned numerous times that he isn't in favor of using a golf cart unless the PGA Tour allows it in official tournaments. This is why the former World No. 1 only featured in last year's PNC Championship and Capital One's The Match, both being unofficial events.

Woods last appeared on the golf course during Capital One's "The Match", and was paired alongside Rory McIlroy against Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth. He was seen in the PNC Championship teaming up with his son Charlie Woods.

However, if all goes as planned, Tiger Woods will next participate in The Players in March, even if he doesn't play at The Genesis. The 15-time Major winner is still aiming to surpass Jack Nicklaus' record of most Majors (18) and is still motivated by the same.

The Genesis Invitational was announced as one of the elevated designated events and this is why fans can expect most of the superstars of golf to participate in next week's event. The tournament will take place from next Thursday, February 16, to Sunday, February 19, at Riviera Country Club.

Joaquín Niemann is the defending champion at the tournament. Last year, he concluded the four rounds at 19-under 265, beating Collin Morikawa and Cameron Young by a 2-stroke margin.

The purse size for The Genesis Invitational is $20 million compared to $12 million in 2022. The winner's share will be $3.6 million, which was $2.16 million the previous year. This is the third elevated tournament of the season, with the Sentry Tournament of Champions already concluded last month and the WM Phoenix Open currently taking place at TPC Scottsdale.
